National Cancer Survivor Month: Celebrate, Advocate, Support

June 14, 2024

June is National Cancer Survivor Month, a time to celebrate and recognize the millions of thrivers, inspire those newly diagnosed, and, most importantly, celebrate life.

During the month, cancer survivors and supporters in communities around the world unite to celebrate life and raise awareness of the challenges faced by those living with cancer beyond diagnosis.

It’s a time for everyone to join in, whether you’re a survivor, a family member, friend, or medical professional. The month provides an opportunity for all people with a cancer history to connect, celebrate milestones, and recognize those who have supported them along the way. It’s also a time to draw attention to the ongoing challenges of survivorship in order to promote more resources, research, and survivor-friendly legislation to improve their quality of life.

Thanks to advances in cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and follow-up care, more people than ever are surviving the disease. According to the American Cancer Society, there are over 18 million cancer survivors in the United States alone.

However, surviving cancer can leave a host of problems. Cancer survivors may face numerous challenges during and after treatment, including limited access to cancer specialists and promising new treatments, denial of insurance coverage, difficulty finding employment, and financial burdens due to medical expenses and lost wages. They are also at greater risk for developing secondary cancers and other health conditions.

If you, or a loved one, has been diagnosed with cancer, please contact us today. Whether you would like to discuss treatment options, or get a second opinion, we are here to help in any way we can.
